To Boost or To Refrain?

I've been thinking lately...

I usually try to retain as much of the original quality as I can when I post to newgrounds, but lately I've been wondering if my low volume mixes are just turning heads away...

Should I mix my stuff a tad bit too hot and thus sacrifice a bit of the audio quality, but result in a much louder song that might be more on par with the usual music on newgrounds?

I'll still keep the low volume mixes for bandcamp releases, this is just for newgrounds

I dislike the current trend to make overly loud music.
Same as you, I prefer to keep my music at a decent level in order to preserve dynamics, clearness and quality as much as possible.
You can always squeeze a bit of extra volume (with no quality sacrifice) using a moderate amount of mastering compressor ;)
